The AI4CITIZENS – Empowering Citizens: Developing AI Literacy and Ethical Perspectives for the Digital Age project (Project No. 2024-1-ES01-KA220-ADU-000255497), in which Kırklareli University is a partner, is supported by the European Union under the Erasmus+ KA220 program. The project aims to enhance adult citizens’ AI literacy and skills, along with their ethical awareness, by developing AI training modules for adults and a digital learning platform to deliver these modules.
To achieve this goal, the project is implemented by seven partners from six countries:
Aligned with the project’s objectives, the project’s content and processes consist of five work packages. These include conducting a needs analysis to identify adult learners’ AI requirements in six countries, developing AI training programs and digital modules based on the themes identified in the needs analysis, creating a digital learning platform to deliver the developed AI training modules, implementing pilot applications of the modules, and carrying out dissemination and exploitation activities to promote and share the project results.
The transnational meetings of the AI4CITIZENS project were held on June 25–26, 2025, in Serres, Greece, hosted by project partner Computer GR at the International Hellenic University, Serres Campus (Life Learning Center Hall). The Kırklareli University project team was represented by Project Coordinator Dr. Doğan ÜNAL (Faculty of Engineering, Department of Software Engineering) and Project Researcher Dr. Alaettin İŞERİ (Faculty of Science and Letters, Department of Educational Sciences). During the two-day meeting, the participants first reviewed the project’s management processes and evaluated the general progress of activities conducted by the project partners. This was followed by an assessment of the reports and outcomes from surveys and workshop/focus group studies conducted in partner countries regarding AI awareness and needs analysis. Based on these assessments, discussions were held on the current situation, the findings from the needs analysis reports, and the planning of upcoming work packages. The main agenda of the meeting included the following topics:
