The “Thrace Logistics Summit,” organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Youth Services Directorate UNIDES Program, Lüleburgaz Municipality, and the KLÜ Logistics Club, was held at our university with the participation of our Rector Prof. Dr. Rengin Ak, Lüleburgaz District Governor Kemal Yıldız, Lüleburgaz Mayor Dr. Murat Gerenli, and Trakya Development Agency Secretary General Mahmut Şahin.
The summit was designed as a comprehensive platform addressing the strategic importance of the logistics sector at both regional and national levels, the critical role of Thrace as Turkey’s gateway to Europe, and current developments shaping the future of the industry. Representatives from public institutions, local administrations, the private sector, academia, and students gathered to evaluate the dimensions of sustainability, efficiency, technology, and competitiveness in logistics.
The program began with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, followed by opening remarks delivered by Prof. Dr. Süleyman Kale, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences; Hekim Demirci, Director of Lüleburgaz Youth and Sports District Office; Lüleburgaz Mayor Dr. Murat Gerenli; and our Rector Prof. Dr. Rengin Ak.
During the summit, certificates of appreciation were presented to our academic staff members Ebru Bilgen Kocatürk and İhsan Aktaş, as well as student team members Melih Çakal, Yaren Özkan, Esranur Talay, Hatice Yüsra Özcan, Birtan Serbest, İlkay Güneş, and Mustafa Arda Sağlama for their dedicated contributions to the preparation and execution of the event within the scope of the UNIDES Program.
The program continued with the main session titled “The Geostrategic Importance of Thrace and Regional Development,” which addressed the region’s logistics potential, its role in national and international trade, and sectoral projections.
The Thrace Logistics Summit concluded successfully, contributing to increased awareness of regional logistics, strengthened institutional cooperation, and enhanced engagement of young people with the sector.
