The talk titled “Are We Prepared for Disasters? Disaster Awareness and Disaster Risk Management” was organized by our University’s Science Communication Office within the scope of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) Science Café events, with the participation of our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Gençbay.
In the talk, Emre Tosun, faculty member of the Vocational School of Health Services, and Ayşe Özyetgin Altun, faculty member of the Faculty of Architecture, took part as speakers. During the program, topics such as disaster preparedness processes, the importance of disaster awareness for society, and fundamental approaches to disaster risk management were discussed.
During the event, which was followed with great interest by the participants, the importance of increasing both individual and societal awareness against disasters was emphasized, and up-to-date information and recommendations on the subject were shared.
The event concluded after the participants’ questions were answered and the speakers were thanked for their contributions.
